UB Curtis thru Ursa

UB Curtis, 03/12/89-02/12/01

UB was my companion, caregiver, friend and confidant. She protected me in life and in her own death. I've lost the only thing left to lose in my heart.

Uku, 06/28/02

This is for Uku who left me June 28, 2002. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for your love and devotion. Thank you for the times you made me laugh. Thank you for being with me through al the good and bad times. May you be happy and free of pain, and someday we will see each other again. What a happy day that will be.

Time's golden scythe sweeps all to rest
No power on earth can stay its force.
All must run to its appointed course
Rivers to the sea, the sun must sink in the west.

Yet the sea's vapors rise and return as rain
and each new day a sunrise is born
And so it is with us who are left behind to mourn
We know the time will come to meet again

And as you lie head resting on earth's stony chest
Having passed through death's blessed door
These simple words say all, no more
Your epitaph is this: you truely were the best.

Uncle Joe, 07/07/92-06/24/02

Her family loved her, appreciated her, and were beyond lucky to have her.

Unka, 08/86-08/28/02

Unka, great friend, loving companion and special pet beyond measure died peacefully at 12:25 pm on August 28, 2002 of age related causes. We will always remember our little “bottle baby” feline fighting to maintain that initial life with such tenacity. She came to us against great odds and I’m truly convinced she was a gift from God. Unka gave us 16 of the best years one could hope for from a pet. I will of course never forget my “lap cat” who was always with me whether watching TV, reading or taking a nap whereupon she would sleep on my tummy. Then there was the mad tearing around the house back and forth whenever she sensed we were leaving for a while, especially if suitcases were involved. Unka loved to play with your finger or a pencil if she was hiding in a box; Great Fun! Towards the end of her life she discovered the joys of catnip. I’ve saved her favorite catnip “log” as a remembrance of the many hours she spent fondling that thing. She appeared to be in pure ecstasy and indeed she played with the catnip until just a few days ago. The many other memories I have of our special pet are too numerous to lay down here but these few words written while shedding some tears may help a little with the grief and healing process. It’s amazing but I already feel this gaping hole in my heart where she was. Unka has her own special place now in the sun about 15 feet to the left of the holly tree where she will rest in peace. For the beautiful little cat, we found at the side of the road. You lost your fight but at least you are not suffering any more.

Love to you and our fur babies

Ursa, 06/13/95-01/09/02

This is for you Ursie, my beautiful guy, you are missed daily and will always be until I am gone. I forever look for you everywhere I go because you and I have been to all places together. I feel you in the wind, I smell you in the forest, I hear you in the rushing brook, but no longer can I touch you - I can only remember that spirit of yours, your love of life and how you translated your existence into something marvelous to behold. I am a fortunate human being to have had the privilege of sharing life with you - brief as it was. I am truly lost without you.
